Mission

OutFront Minnesota’s mission is to create a state where lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people are free to be who they are, love who they love, and live without fear of violence, harassment or discrimination. We envision a state where LGBTQ individuals have equal opportunities, protection and rights. We are working toward the day when all Minnesotans have the freedom, power and confidence to make the best choices for their own lives.

About

The Anti-Violence Program at OutFront Minnesota works to prevent and address violence within and towards LGBTQ communities in Minnesota. We provide legal services, advocacy counseling, support groups, organizational trainings, and skills workshops to promote safety, healing, and agency of LGBTQ Minnesotans. We provided support and advocacy for over 800 LGBTQ survivors of violence. We trained over 4500 people on advancing LGBTQ equity. These trainings include strategies to address racism, white supremacy, sexism, xenophobia and ablism. We used the trainings as opportunities to support local leaders in organizing and building power to advance equity. We trained over 1000 staff and administrators on anti-bullying efforts and LGBTQ inclusion in our schools and worked with over 1000 youth in schools across the state. We increased our GSA Network to include over 150 groups in middle schools and high schools. We worked with coalition partners to create a trans inclusion toolkit for public schools that we succeeded in getting the Minnesota Department of Educations School Safety and Technical Assistance Council to adopt and promote.
