Founded in 1897, the Allendale Association is a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to excellence and innovation in care, treatment, education and advocacy for children and youth with serious emotional, mental and behavioral health challenges. Today, the Allendale Association annually serves over 900 children and their families – with specialized focus on youth who have suffered severe relational trauma, often including physical and sexual abuse. Allendale operates residential treatment facilities in Lake Villa and North Chicago for up to 120 children and youth, including 6 young boys with severe autism. These services are complimented by school programs designed for special education students ages 7-21, including programs for day-students from local communities.
