SOCIAL SERVICES ESTABLISHED IN 1995, ADOPTIONS OF INDIANA PROVIDES PROFESSIONAL COUNSELING AND SOCIAL SERVICES TO WOMEN AND MEN EXPERIENCING UNEXPECTED PREGNANCIES, TO PROSPECTIVE PARENTS SEEKING TO FORM THEIR FAMILIES THROUGH ADOPTION, AND TO ALL BIRTH AND ADOPTIVE FAMILY MEMBERS ON A POST-ADOPTION BASIS. ADOPTIONS OF INDIANA PROVIDES DIRECT SERVICES, ONE ON ONE, GROUP AND FAMILY COUNSELING WITH EXPECTANT PARENTS, BIRTH PARENTS, PROSPECTIVE ADOPTIVE PARENTS, ADOPTEES AND ADOPTIVE PARENTS. THE ADOPTIVE HOME STUDY PROCESS AT ADOPTIONS OF INDIANA EMPHASIZES THE IMPORTANCE OF EQUIPPING AND EMPOWERING ADOPTIVE PARENTS TO FEEL COMPETENT AND CONFIDENT TO DISCUS ADOPTIVE ISSUES AND PARENT EFFECTIVELY. WE ASSIST FAMILIES IN DETERMINING IF ADOPTION IS RIGHT FOR THEIR FAMILY AND WHAT TYPE OF ADOPTION IS THE RIGHT FIT--DOMESTIC INFANT, TRANSRACIAL INFACT, SPECIAL NEEDS ADOPTION OR INTERNATIONAL ADOPTION. IN CLASSROOM ADOPTION EDUCATION IS A REQUIRED ELEMENT OF ADOPTIONS OF INDIANA'S HOME STUDY PROCESS. THIS BUILDS DEEPER LEARNING AND COMMUNITY. ALL OF THIS IS DONE WITH A CHILD-CENTERED APPROACH TEACHING THEM TO ALWAYS LOOK TO WHAT IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD. MONTHLY INFORMATIONAL/RECRUITMENT MEETINGS WERE CONDUCTED IN 2017. IN ADDITION, MEDICAL STAFF TRAINING IN THE AREA OF ADOPTION WAS CONDUCTED AT HOSPITALS AND CLINICS THROUGHOUT INDIANA. PLANNED PARENTHOOD OF INDIANA/KENTUCKY REQUESTED ADOPTIONS OF INDIANA TO PROVIDE TRAINING TO THEIR CLINIC STAFF ON ADOPTION OPTIONS TRAINING AT ALL OF THEIR CLINICS. IN ADDITION, ADOPTIONS OF INDIANA'S PROFESSIONAL STAFF PROVIDE EXPERT ADOPTION EDUCATION AT LOCAL AND STATEWIDE CONFERENCES. ADOPTIONS OF INDIANA OFFERS POST-ADOPTION SERVICES TO ADOPTIVE PARENTS AND ADOPTEES ON A VARIETY OF ADOPTION RELATED TOPICS AND ISSUES. ADOPTIONS OF INDIANA ALSO PROVIDES MONTHLY GROUP SUPPORT FOR BIRTH PARENTS, AN ON-LINE PRIVATE SUPPORT GROUP, AND SPECIAL EVENTS WHERE BIRTH PARENTS CAN ESTABLISH A COMMUNITY AND SHOW SUPPORT FOR EACH OTHER.
