THE PURPOSE IS TO EMPOWER THE HISPANIC/LATINO COMMUNITY TO REDUCE THE NEGATIVE IMPACT OF HIV/AIDS, VIOLENCE, AND ABUSE OF ALCOHOL, TOBACCO AND OTHER DRUGS THROUGH CULTURALLY SENSITIVE, HOLISTIC PREVENTION, EDUCATION, INTERVENTION, TREATMENT, AND REENTRY PROGRAMS. THEY ALSO PROVIDE OUTREACH, EDUCATION, PREVENTION AND EARLY INTERVENTION TO SUPPORT ACTIVITIES, TRAINING, CONSULTATION AND TREATMENT SERVICES FOR THE HISPANIC COMMUNITY, AND TO PROVIDE THOSE THINGS NECESSARY FOR THE OPERATION, SUPPORT OR BENEFIT OF THE HISPANIC COMMUNITY.

HISPANIC ALCOHOL AND DRUG PROGRAM - ADAPTS TWO EVIDENCE-BASED MODELS (POSITIVE ACTION AND LION QUEST), ALONG WITH HUMAN RELATIONS MEDIA VIDEOS, TO PROVIDE A 10-WEEK SCHOOL-BASED ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUGS PREVENTION EDUCATION CURRICULUM TO HISPANIC MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARS IN THE CLEVELAND METROPOLITAN SCHOOL DISTRICT. DURING FY 2018-19, A TOTAL OF 352 SCHOLARS RECEIVED PREVENTION EDUCATION SERVICES AND 345 WERE ABLE TO PERCEIVE SUBSTANCE USE AS RISKY AND/OR HARMFUL. CREATING LASTING FAMILY CONNECTIONS - IS A COMPREHENSIVE, FAMILY STRENGTHENING, SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND VIOLENCE PREVENTION CURRICULUM DESIGNED TO INCREASE PARENTAL SKILLS, POSITIVE FAMILY ENGAGEMENT, FAMILY BONDING, ACCESS TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES, AND SETTING EFFECTIVE SUBSTANCE USE RULES AMONG INCARCERATED WOMEN IN THE NORTHEAST REINTEGRATION CENTER. DURING FY 2018-19, A TOTAL OF 44 SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE CURRICULUM. PROJECT NIOS - ADAPTS AN EVIDENCE-BASED MODEL (LION QUEST) AND HUMAN RELATIONS MEDIA VIDEOS TO PROVIDE A YEAR-LONG SCHOOL-BASED ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUGS PREVENTION EDUCATION CURRICULUM TO HISPANIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SCHOLARS IN THE CLEVELAND METROPOLITAN SCHOOL DISTRICT. DURING FY 2018-19, A TOTAL OF 425 SCHOLARS RECEIVED PREVENTION EDUCATION SERVICES. OF THIS GROUP, A TOTAL OF 256 SCHOLARS WERE ABLE TO IDENTIFY HARMFUL EFFECTS FROM SUBSTANCE ABUSE. LA MARIPOSA - IMPLEMENTS THE GIRLS CIRCLE EVIDENCED-BASED PRACTICE TO ADDRESS GIRLS' UNIQUE RISKS, STRENGTHS, AND NEEDS BY UTILIZING GENDER- RESPONSIVE PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES TO BUILD HEALTHY CONNECTIONS, ADDRESS CHALLENGES, REDUCE RISKS, AND BUILD SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL SKILLS IN ADOLESCENT GIRLS, AGES 9-18 YEARS. THE OUT-OF-SCHOOL PROGRAM DELIVERS 12 GROUP WEEKLY SESSIONS WHICH GUIDES AND EXPLORES MOTHER-DAUGHTER CIRCLE; BODY IMAGE; MIND, BODY, AND SPIRIT; FRIENDSHIP; DIVERSITY; RELATIONSHIPS; AND INDIVIDUALITY. DURING FY 2018-19, A TOTAL OF 28 GIRLS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED AND IMPROVED THEIR ABILITY TO DEVELOP HEALTHY INTERPERSONAL SKILLS. OTHER HIGHLIGHTS WERE: FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT (TROLLS), CLEVELAND 2ND DISTRICT POLICE (YOUTH STREET SAFETY PRESENTATIONS), AND FRIDAY NIGHT DONE RIGHT (YOUTH/PARENT SUBSTANCE-FREE ACTIVITY).
