To improve the quality of life in Washington communities by providing access to pro bono business legal services for charitable nonprofit organizations and microenterprise businesses owned by individuals with low incomes or in disadvantaged communities.
About
Work with nonprofits: Wayfind provides access to pro bono legal services to nonprofits that would not otherwise afford legal services. Wayfind focuses on nonprofits that serve communities that have been impacted by systemic oppression, including communities of color and low-income communities, but also works with other nonprofits. Wayfind connects eligible nonprofits with business, real estate and employment attorneys who provide free legal services to address critical legal needs of nonprofits. Wayfind provides legal services through direct representation and in a monthly nonprofit legal clinic. By providing free legal services to nonprofit organizations, Wayfind enables eligible nonprofits to obtain long-term stability, which helps strengthen the communities in Washington State. Wayfind attorneys worked with 165 nonprofit clients on 201 nonprofit matters or clinic appointments in 2018. In addition, Wayfind participates in capacity building projects with community partners that focus on racial equity, including The Delta Vision and The Race Equity Justice Initiative (REJI). The Delta Vision is a communities-of-color led initiative to develop a framework for a capacity building model specifically for communities of color. REJI is working to coordinate and grow a sustainable statewide community of legal and justice system partners in Washington State who can more effectively and collaboratively work toward eradicating racially biased policies, practices, and systems.
