Dwave served deaf survivors or co-survivors of relationship and sexual violence by helping them navigate the service system and getting the support they need to heal. Trained hospital advocates to be on call 24 hours seven days a week to respond to area hospitals when a deaf survivor needs help reporting a sexual assault. Provided outreach to deaf people at deaf community events. Trained professionals across Ohio about how to serve deaf people better. Also trained American Sign Language interpreters about how to manage interpreting in crisis settings. Engaged in coordinated community response and consultation with service systems and providers to improve service access for deaf people.
