The Athens County Historical Society received a grant from Ohio Humanities to fund the research of a major exhibit on the Athens Asylum. This exhibit brought in more than 8,000 visitors over the course of its life and served as a point of community conversation on the stigma surrounding mental illness today. History Center also played a key role in the development of a documentary on Athens produced by our local PBS station.
