About

CAPA PROVIDES SERVICES THAT BOLSTER AND ENLIVEN OUR COMMUNITY. WE OWN AND/OR MANAGE TEN THEATRES IN CENTRAL OHIO, WE PRESENT EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD, WE PROVIDE EDUCATION PROGRAMS THAT SUPPORT THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM, AND WE PROVIDE VITAL ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES FOR OTHER ARTS ORGANIZATIONS. OUR THEATRES AND PRESENTATIONS ARE THE MOST PUBLIC ASPECTS OF OUR OPERATIONS. CAPA'S PRESENTATIONS IN FY19 REACHED OUT TO THE WHOLE COMMUNITY WITH DIVERSE PRESENTATIONS, INCLUDING BROADWAY (HAMILTON), CHILDREN'S ENTERTAINMENT (A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS), CONTEMPORARY DANCE (DIAVOLO), JAZZ (AARON DIEHL), ROCK (SOUTHSIDE JOHNNY AND THE ASBURY JUKES), AND WORLD MUSIC (FRANK REYES BACHATA). WE JOINED WITH DOZENS OF OTHER ARTS ORGANIZATIONS IN A CELEBRATION OF THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE HARLEM RENAISSANCE. OUR PRESENTATIONS INCLUDED DANCE THEATRE OF HARLEM AND THE HARLEM GOSPEL CHOIR. WE ALSO PARTNERED WITH OPERA COLUMBUS IN A PRODUCTION CALLED THE VOICE OF FREEDOM. IN ANOTHER IMPORTANT COLLABORATION CAPA JOINED WITH THE COLUMBUS DEPARTMENT OF RECREATION AND PARKS FOR A FREE, FULL-DAY CELEBRATION OF MUSIC CALLED RHYTHM ON THE RIVER, WHICH FEATURED MANY PROMINENT LOCAL ARTISTS SUCH AS MOJO FLO AND THE SEAN CARNEY BAND. OUR LARGEST PRODUCTION OF THE YEAR WAS THE TWO-DAY FESTIVAL LATINO, WHICH DREW MORE THAN 175,000 PEOPLE DOWNTOWN FOR A FREE CELEBRATION OF LATINO-HISPANIC ART AND CULTURES. IN ADDITION, OUR THEATRES WELCOMED MORE THAN 594,000 PEOPLE, AND MORE THAN 288,000 OF THEM ATTENDED ONE OF CAPA'S PRESENTATIONS.
