Eagle Island - "Where History Meets the Future" Located on its own wooded island on Upper Saranac Lake in New York's Adirondack Mountains, Eagle Island is a youth camp, a National Historic Landmark, and one of the best-preserved examples of Adirondack Great Camp architecture. MISSION To inspire and empower girls and young women to be confident, collaborative, and courageous. VISION To provide an environmentally responsible island camp experience for youth, with an emphasis on girls and young women, while preserving Eagle Island's natural and historic character. Eagle Island, Inc. aims to develop leadership and team building skills through premier programming to help young people succeed in today's global landscape.

ACCOMPLISHMENT 2018 NON-GRANT THE ORGANIZATION PERFORMED CRITICAL REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE OUTSIDE OF THE SCOPE OF THE GRANT PROJECT DESCRIBED BELOW. CAPITAL PROJECTS INCLUDED FINALIZING THE DESIGN OF THE SEPTIC AND WATER SYSTEM AND PUTTING THE PROJECT OUR FOR BID, INSTALLATION OF CONDUIT TO SUPPORT FUTURE ELECTRICAL UPGRADES AND REPLACING ROTTED SILLS AND FLOORING IN THE KITCHEN. VOLUNTEERS INSTALLED NEW FLOORING AND CEILINGS IN THE GUIDE HOUSE, RESTORED WINDOWS AND DOORS, MAINTAINED TRAILS AND LANDSCAPING AS WELL AS NUMEROUS OTHER PAINTING AND REPAIR PROJECTS. THE ORGANIZAITON BEGAN PLANNING FOR YOUTH DAY CAMP FOR 2019 AND HIRED A CAMP DIRECTOR TO IMPLEMENT CAMP PROGRAMS. EAGLE ISLAND WAS OPENED FOR LIMITED PUBLIC ACCESS IN 2018, WHICH INCLUDED HISTORIC TOURS AND A DEDICATION CEREMONY FOR THE NEWLY RENOVATED MARINER BOAT HOUSE AND SEVERAL SAILBOATS. GRANT: THE ORGANIZATION FINANLIZED ITS REGIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GRANT WITH NEW YORK STATE AND BEGAN UTILIZING THE FUNDS TO MAKE CRITICAL REPAIRS TO SIX HISTORIC BUILDINGS LOCATED ON THE EAGLE ISLAND. THE ORGANIZAITON BEGAN WORK ON THIS GRANT PROJECT IN 2018 REPLACING FOOTINGS AND PIERS TO STABILIZE FOUNDATIONS, MAKING MASONRY REPAIRS TO CHIMNEYS AND REPLACING ROOFS. THE PROJECT ALSO INCLUDED INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS TO SEPTIC AND WATER LINES. THE GRANT PROJECT IS PROJECTED TO BE COMPLETED IN 2020.
