Mission

The Newborn Foundation connects newborns with essential care by addressing the most significant barriers to positive outcomes; early detection of health conditions, access to treatment and technology innovation, and improved policies that directly impact newborn health. We accomplish this through a well-defined mission of education, awareness and advocacy blended with high-impact on the ground programs that improve supporting the adoption and sustainability of life-saving interventions.

About

The Newborn Foundation's Born Project has convened experts in clinical medicine, device engineering, public health and policy to advance education, training and implementation of accessible technologies as standards of care for all newborns (US and global). The Newborn Foundation's innovation incubator has helped co-develop and launch novel, low-cost technologies, including the world's first mobile enabled hospital-grade pulse oximeter appropriate for use on newborns, significantly reducing the costs and technological barriers for health workers in the most remote, low-resource settings. The Born Project's largest programs are currently in rural China and Phillipines. The project has been highlighted by the United Nations, the White House Office of Science and Technology and the World Health Organization among a handful of innovation-based programs directly impacting newborn health and saving lives.
