Mission

At The Crossroads reaches out to homeless youth and young adults at their point of need, and works with them to build healthy and fulfilling lives. By bringing our services directly onto the streets, we cultivate long-term, unconditional relationships with young people who would otherwise be disconnected from consistent support. We empower our clients to accomplish their individual goals, build community, pursue their passions, and find their own paths to happiness and stability. We believe that there are no limits to what our clients can achieve, and that every homeless youth deserves the chance to build an outstanding life.

About

At The Crossroads' three primary programs are our nighttime Street Outreach, our One-to-One counseling, and our On-The-Spot counseling. Street Outreach happens 3-4 nights a week. Counselors walk the streets of the Downtown/Tenderloin area and offer youth and young adults much-needed supplies like food, hygiene items, and socks. When they see us night after night youth slowly begin to trust us, open up, and turn to us for support. One-to-One Counseling is when counselors meet with these youth during the daytime with the goal of developing healthy, long-term, unconditionally supportive relationships. Through these relationships we help clients identify and achieve their personal goals, developing the tools and plans to make them happen. On-The-Spot Counseling is a program that targets the youth that we are having the hardest time building meaningful connections with. During the day, counselors walk the streets and proactively offer our most disconnected clients on-the-spot meetings and a bite to eat. By cutting out all the bureaucracy and wait time we can effectively serve our most disconnected clients working within the reality of their lifestyles to best meet their needs. Through our three primary programs, ATC reached approximately 600 young people in 2019. We focus on young people who do not access traditional services and are disconnected from any type of consistent support. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. We remove common barriers to service by bringing our counselors onto the streets and shaping our support services around the needs of individual clients. Out goal is to help clients build outstanding lives, not just lives of substistence.
