EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING INCLUDES DISCUSSION GROUPS, ARTIST TALKS, CONFERENCES, LECTURES, WORKSHOPS, AND SALONS WITH THE GOAL OF OFFERING NEW AUDIENCES AN INCREASED ACCESS TO THE ARTS AND VARIOUS KINDS OF CREATIVE PRACTICE.THE ORGANIZATION HOSTED ONE MAKER'S SERIES EVENTS (OCTOBER 2017) WITH LOCAL PARTNERS, THE GARAGE AND CHRIST CHURCH. 75 PEOPLE ATTENDED. "THE ART OF RECONCILIATION" FEATURED 3 ARTISTS WHO SHARED INSIGHT INTO THEIR CREATIVE PRACTICE BY FOCUSING ON THIS THEME. MONTHLY, PUBLIC ARTIST TALKS WERE HELD AT THE MAJORITY OF PUBLIC ART OPENINGS AT WELCOME GALLERY. THROUGH THE YEAR, NEW CITY ARTS HOSTED MONTHLY LUNCHES AT WELCOME GALLERY WITH THE ARTIST FOR THE COMMUNITY TO RECEIVE A MORE IN-DEPTH LOOK AT EACH EXHIBITION.NEW CITY ARTS HOSTED A MONTHLY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN AGES 0-5. AT EACH NEW CITY ARTS AND CRAFTS EVENT, CHILDREN MADE A CRAFT INSPIRED BY THE EXHIBIT AND ENJOYED A READING TIME. TEN OF THESE EVENTS WERE HELD IN FY18.IN NOVEMBER 2017, NEW CITY ARTS PARTNERED WITH VIRGINIA HUMANITIES TO HOST A DINNER AND DISCUSSION WITH CIVIL RIGHTS LEADER RUBY SALES FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 LOCAL ARTISTS. THE DINNER FEATURED PERFORMANCES AND PRESENTATIONS BY ARTISTS, FOLLOWED BY DISCUSSION WITH RUBY SALES.IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL ARTIST ORGANIZATIONS, NEW CITY ARTS PARTICIPATED IN THE 1ST ANNUAL HOLIDAY ART CRAWL IN DECEMBER 2017 BY HOSTING A GIFT-MAKING EVENT FOR 60 COMMUNITY MEMBERS AT WELCOME GALLERY.IN FY18, NEW CITY ARTS LED AN INTERNSHIP PROGRAM TO CREATE A SUPPORTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT FOR 4 COLLEGE STUDENTS INTERESTED IN ARTS ADMINISTRATION.NEW CITY ARTS WELCOMED 32 STUDENTS FROM ABUNDANT LIFE'S AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM AND 18 STUDENTS CONGREGATION BETH ISRAEL'S KINDERGARTEN CLASS TO ENGAGE WITH EXHIBITIONS AT WELCOME GALLERY AND CREATE ARTWORK CONNECTED TO THE EXHIBITION.
