THE BREWCITY BRUISERS IS AN ATHLETIC ORGANIZATION OF WOMEN AND VOLUNTEERS THAT FOSTERS STRONG WOMEN AND ACTIVE ENGAGEMENT WITH THEIR COMMUNITY. OUR MISSION IS TO DELIVER A QUALITY WOMEN'S SPORT TO MILWAUKEE AND THE GREATER DERBY COMMUNITY. THE BREWCITY BRUISERS OFFER OPPORTUNITIES FOR POSITIVE CHANGE IN WOMEN'S PHYSICAL, SOCIAL AND MENTAL HEALTH. THE BREWCITY BRUISERS PHYSICALLY AND FINANCIALLY SUPPORT THE GREATER MILWAUKEE COMMUNITY.

THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUES TO PROMOTE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT THROUGH A WIDE VARIETY OF CHARITIES AND OTHER SOCIAL ORGANIZATIONS. SOME OF THE ORGANIZATION'S CONTINUING SUCCESS IS DUE TO TRAVELING TEAMS THAT HAVE BEEN PLAYING AGGRESSIVELY ACROSS THE NATION. THE ORGANIZATION HOSTED THE 9TH ANNUAL MIDWEST BREWHAHA ON JUNE 1-3, 2018. THE TOURNAMENT BROUGHT MORE THAN THAN 550 ROLLER DERBY PLAYERS FROM 18 WOMEN'S AND JUNIORS TEAMS, AND 8 MEN'S TEAMS, TOGETHER TO COMPETE IN GAMES AND STRENGTHEN AND ADVANCE THE MODERN SPORT OFFLAT TRACK ROLLER DERBY. THE ORGANIZATION SPENDS THE MAJORITY OF ITS INCOME ON LEAGUE OPERATIONAL COSTS INCLUDING BOUT PRODUCTION (5 HOME SEASON BOUTS, 2 INTERLEAGUE BOUTS AND THE 3 DAY MIDWEST BREWHAHA TOURNAMENT), PRACTICE SPACE (36 HOURS PER WEEK), TRAVEL TEAM EXPENSES (NATIONAL TRAVEL STIPENDS TO COMPETE WITH OTHER TEAMS) AND ALL OF THE OTHER EXPENSES DETAILED IN THIS FORM 990. A PORTION OF THE ORGANIZATION'S INCOME COMES FROM MEMBER DUES. THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUES TO DONATE A PORTION OF ALL EVENT PROCEEDS TO CHARITIES, IN ADDITION TO CONSISTENT COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERING. IN 2018 THE ORGANIZATION PARTICIPATED IN SEVERAL CHARITY EVENTS AND DONATED MERCHANDISE AND TICKETS TO AND FOR THE BENEFIT OF OTHER CHARITBLE ORGANIZATIONS. IN ADDITION, THE ORGANIZATION COLLECTED AND DONATED NON-PERISHABLE FOOD ITEMS AT EVENTS TO SUPPLY A LOCAL FOOD BANK. THE 10TH ANNUAL BCB COMMUNITY PICNIC IN WASHINGTON PARK BROUGHT TOGETHER MORE THAN 300 MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY WITH FREE ACTIVITIES SUCH AS CANOEING, BIKE SAFETY CHECKS, FACE PAINTING, A PICNIC AND CONCERT. THE ORGANIZATION ANTICIPATES THAT EXCESS FUNDS WILL CONTINUE TO BE AVAILABLE FOR CHARITABLE GRANTS.
