About
Through volunteers Mayflower Medical Outreach conducts mission trips to Nicaragua. We currently work with several organizations in Nicaragua: Casa Materna, Los Pipitos, Victoria Mota Hospital in Jinotega, Ministry of Health of Nicaragua (MINSA), Ministry of Education of Nicaragua, the Lenin-Fonseca Hospital in Managua, and a clinic in Esteli. In the area of medical/ORL (ENT) we provided training to doctors. In the area of research we looked at the prevalence and causes of hearing loss and studied genetic testing of special populations. To assist in prevention we provided education to health workers and developed early identification through school scholarships. We also provided some surgery, hearing aids, implants and education.
