Mission

Hero Dogs improves the quality of life of our nation's heroes by raising, training, and placing service dogs and other highly skilled canines, free of charge, with lifetime support of the partnerships.

About

In September of 2018, Hero Dogs received a Governors Citation for Excellence from Marylands Governor Larry Hogan. Hero Dogs successfully launched our breeding program with a litter of five puppies born in October of 2018. We had our second litter of six puppies in May 2019. In November of 2018, we graduated two veteran/service dog teams, one facility dog team, two skilled home companion teams and one therapy dog team. In early 2019, team training began for three new facility dog teams, one was placed at a community organization that serves victims of intimate partner violence, one at a childrens hospital and one at a program for adults with differing abilities. By the end of fiscal year 2019, we had added 13 new puppies to the program bringing us to a total of 28 dogs currently in training. New emphasis was placed on veteran and community outreach and we participated in 115 education and awareness events doubling the number from previous years.
