Chucktown Squash Scholars was founded on the premise that in order to make a meaningful and long-lasting impact on our students, we must work with students, families, schools, and community organizations intensively over many, many years. Chucktown Squash Scholars commits to 12 years of support for each of our 50 students, and more than 400 direct service hours per student each year. Chucktown Squash Scholars provides hands-on learning opportunities, life skills development, one-to-one mentoring, and exposure opportunities to help boys and girls growing up in disadvantaged communities develop the critical-thinking skills they need to succeed, in the classroom and beyond. In addition, we use the sport of squash as a means to engage youth in an intrinsically motivating activity while also developing life skills and promoting academic advancement.
