To assist hospitals and other practitioners in improving the safety and quality of healthcare delivery through the application of science and implementation of best-practice evidence with the objective of preventing patient injury or death. PSOFLORIDA collects and analyzes patient safety event data; develops and disseminates best practices, recommended interventions, protocols, clinical integration, and other information that can improve patient safety; use the findings from the data collected to encourage a culture of safety among providers; and provide feedback and assistance to providers that will enable them effectively to minimize risk of harm to patients.

PSOFLORIDA has signed up 27 hospitals and provided training to them on the services and requirements of the federal Patient Safety Organization regulations. We started services in January 2010 and have training webinars. We also have advisories that will be sent out quarterly to the PSOFLORIDA members as well as user groups to assist the members in complying with the federal law.
