About

Mayan Hands Economic Empowerment Program provides consistent fair wage income to more than 180 Mayan women artisans in Guatemala, by connecting them to consumers in developed countries. We educate women artisans, most with low literacy rates, in rural communities on business practices, including calculating fair trade wages, completing necessary documentation for business and financial transactions, and filing taxes. We provide ongoing design and technical training in the development of innovative products. In addition, we provide community-based trainings on leadership skills, democratic cooperative structure and decision making, occupational and personal health and safety, and self-esteem.
