THE GOAL OF ACN'S CLINICAL SERVICES IS TO PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY AND TIMELY AUTISM DIAGNOSES TO UNDERSERVED CHILDREN AND FAMILIES. IN 2018, AUTISM COMMUNITY NETWORK (ACN) SCHEDULED A TOTAL OF 993 AUTISM DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES; SPECIFICALLY 778 LEVEL2 FOCUSED ASSESSMENTS (L2FAS) AND 215 FULL-TEAM DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATIONS WERE SCHEDULED. ATTENDANCE RATES ACROSS THESE SERVICES VARIED, RESULTING IN A TOTAL OF 824 AUTISM DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES PROVIDED DURING 2018. ACTUAL NUMBERS OF SERVICES PROVIDED AND THEIR ATTENDANCE RATES ARE: 623 L2FAS (80%) AND 201 DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATIONS (93%). THE TOTAL NUMBER OF CHILDREN SEEN FOR DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES IN 2018 WAS 593; THIS NUMBER IS UNDUPLICATED. OF THESE CHILDREN, 76% WERE BOYS AND 24% WERE GIRLS. A MAJORITY OF THE FAMILIES OF THESE CHILDREN IDENTIFIED THEMSELVES AS HISPANIC 60%, WHILE 29% SELF-IDENTIFIED AS WHITE, 10% AS AFRICAN AMERICAN, AND THE REMAINING 1% AS ASIAN AMERICAN. THEY LIVED IN 98 DIFFERENT ZIP CODES IN THE SAN ANTONIO, SOUTH TEXAS AND BEYOND. OF THE FAMILIES SEEN IN 2018, 73% WERE MEDICAID-QUALIFIED, 26% HAD COMMERCIAL/PRIVATE INSURANCE, AND THE REMAINING 1% USED THE SLIDING FEE SCALE BECAUSE THEY WERE UNINSURED. THE AVERAGE AGE OF THE CHILDREN SEEN FOR AUTISM DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES WAS 4 YEARS, 3 MONTHS.SINCE ACN OPENED IN 2009 7,528 AUTISM DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES HAVE BEEN PROVIDED. REFERRALS FOR SERVICES CONTINUE TO RISE DOUBLING FROM 2010 TO 2018. THE GOAL OF THE ORGANIZATION'S AWARENESS, OUTREACH, AND COLLABORATION PROGRAM IS TO CULTIVATE A HIGH LEVEL OF AWARENESS OF AUTISM IN THE SAN ANTONIO AREA, CREATE SOCIAL AND RECREATIONAL EVENTS FOR FAMILIES THAT ARE SAFE FOR CHILDREN AND ALLOW PARENTS/CAREGIVERS TO CONNECT, AND GENERATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ENHANCED PROGRAM AND SERVICE DELIVERY THROUGH COLLABORATIONS AND PARTNERSHIPS IN THE COMMUNITY. DURING 2018, ACN PARTICIPATED IN PUBLIC COMMUNITY EVENTS AND MADE TARGETED INTERACTIONS WITH COMMUNITY AUTISM SERVICE AGENCIES; MAINTAINED WEEKLY SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS AND SENT EMAIL NEWSLETTERS; AND HOSTED CONNECTING FAMILIES TOUCHED BY AUTISM EVENTS.ACN HAD ITS FIRST EVER PARENT CONFERENCE IN 2018 WITH 80 PARTICIAPANTS. THIS WAS A COLLABORATION WITH EDGEWOOD ISD AND WAS HELD AT THE BURSELON CENTER. A SPANISH SPEAKING PERNT CONFERENCE WAS HELD IN EARLY 2019 FOR THOSE NEEDING THE SPANISH LANGUAGE VERSION. IN 2018 62 FAMILY EMPOWERMENT CLASSES TOTALLING 143 HOURS WERE PROVIDED TO 618 PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS. THE GOAL OF THE FAMILY EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM IS TO GIVE PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS THE TOOLS NECESSARY TO MAXIMIZE THE POTENTIAL OF THEIR CHILD WITH AUTISM.
