About
Health equity initiative: Since 2011, our health equity initiative has been organizing our Latino community to support the expansion of Oregon's Medicaid program to cover immigrant pregnant women and children. In 2013, through statewide expansion of CAWEM Plus we secured prenatal care for all women in Oregon, regardless of immigration status. And, more recently, we have been leading the fight to pass Cover All Kids, which aims to expand the Oregon Health Plan to cover immigrant children under 19. To support and sustain our health policy advocacy work, we recently developed our Latinx leadership movement, a training and development program for aspiring Latino leaders interested in becoming more involved in health policy advocacy and/or in running for public office.
