Mission
We believe that a life free of violence and abuse is a basic human right. Our mission is: To advocate for domestic violence victims, at-risk children, and other vulnerable individuals through comprehensive pro bono legal services; to empower victims with knowledge, resources, and on-going support; and to broaden our impact by engaging, training, and supporting a strong and diverse network of volunteer lawyers and community volunteers.

Domestic violence: DCVLP volunteer attorneys help survivors of domestic violence achieve safety and stability in their lives through civil protection orders ('CPOs,' also known as 'stay-away orders); favorable long-term custody, divorce, and child support orders; and three free walk-in clinics. In 2018 we handled 313 CPOs, and 102 family law cases, and together with our community partners provided legal, housing assistance, and counseling services to 570 clinic clients. In total, volunteer attorneys contributed over $4,000,000 in pro bono services for the domestic violence practice during 2018.
