Mission

Herndon-Reston Fish, Inc. (Fish) is a nonsectarian, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing 'Friendly Instant Sympathetic Help' to local residents in short-term crises. Fish provides emergency financial assistance to people in all demographics in predominantly extremely low-income levels. Fish responds to requests for rent, utilities, critical dental and medical care / prescriptions, household items, and other short-term emergency needs. Every year, Fish volunteers and a small staff respond immediately to prevent a crisis situation from becoming an escalating and costly problem. As first responders, we stop evictions, utility shut-offs, and other destabilizing actions.

About

Fish assistance programs helped 2,400 people in all demographics in predominantly very low income levels in Herndon and Reston, Virginia. To effectively address community needs, Fish accepts referrals from social workers in Fairfax County agencies, local schools, hospitals and other nonprofit organizations.
