Continued educational programs including field trips for Mattapoisett elementary school children. Continued trail building and undergrowth clearing on other land under the protection of the land trust. On June 29th the MA Dept. of Conservation & Recreation purchased the Old Hammond Quarry property. The Land Trust provided part of the funds needed and will work with the state to install a trail system and small parking area at the quarry. Over the past two years the Land Trust, with the assistance of professional foresters, created Forestry Management Plans for 360 acres in its Aucoot and Brandt Island Cove Districts with the goal of improving habitat for wildlife, especially birds.
