About
The Cedar Rapids Public Library Foundation supported our library's efforts to promote access, literacy, and inclusion for all ages. Our library's Summer Dare promoted engagement and learning for 5,075 community members of all ages. Together, these individuals read 2,665,523 minutes throughout June and July. In its 29th year, our library's partnership with Cargill continues through a preschool outreach program that provides books, story times, and programs for three schools serving at-risk children. Seven classrooms with 180 students received 1,620 free books this school year. Our senior books clubs served 30 individuals at two retirement communities, bringing books and facilitating discussion each month of the year. The foundation-funded Gazette digital archives boasts more than 2.5 million images and saw 5,942 unique users. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library entered its second year of sending free, age-appropriate books to children under 5 in Cedar Rapids. At the end of June 4,883 children were actively enrolled, and 808 children had graduated upon turning five.
