Non-profit resource collaborative - The Center works to strengthen and build the capacity of non-profit agencies in the community. By providing agencies essential resources, the Center helps these organizations maximize their resources and successfully fulfill their mission. Major services in this program area include: nonprofit training and workshops, capacity-building projects including an annual 5k run/walk-the Great Human Race- which has raised nearly 3 million for area nonprofits, the resource referral program (which matches in-kind donations with nonprofit needs), and special events such as the key volunteer of the year recognition event which allows nonprofits to acknowledge the contributions of their volunteers at a community wide event. Each year the volunteer center coordinates the governor's volunteer service award for both Durham and Orange counties that recognizes service to nonprofits.
