LAST YEAR, CHILD & FAMILY'S RESIDENTIAL SERVICES PROVIDED SAFE LIVING CONDITIONS TO YOUTHS AGES THIRTEEN TO EIGHTEEN PRIMARILY IN NEWPORT COUNTY. EXPERIENCED STAFF HAVE THE TREMENDOUS CHALLENGE OF HELPING THESE YOUNG PEOPLE THROUGH COMPLEX TRAUMATIC CONDITIONS.THE RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO INTEGRATE TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE WITH AN UNDERSTANDING OF IMPACT AND CONSEQUENCES FOR EACH SITUATION. OUR STAFF IS TRAINED TO RECOGNIZE THE SHORT AND LONG-TERM EFFECT OF ABUSE AND NEGLECT AND THEN RESPOND TO YOUTH AND THEIR FAMILIES WITH EMPATHY, SENSITIVITY, AND RESPECT. WE WORK WITH CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES AS INDIVIDUALS AND COLLABORATE TO FIND SOLUTIONS FOR A POSITIVE OUTCOME. RESIDENTIAL HOME LIFE MIMICS A NURTURING HOME WITH DAILY EXPERIENCES OF PREPARING MEALS, ENGAGING IN LEARNING EXPERIENCES AND MAKING TIME FOR RECREATIONAL PLAY. THESE PRACTICES STIMULATE SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL SKILLS AND THE ABILITY TO SELF-REGULATE IN EVERYDAY INSTANCES.
