THE PHILADELPHIA ARTS IN EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP (PAEP) ACHIEVES POSITIVE GROWTH IN STUDENTS IN K-12 CLASSROOMS AND COMMUNITY SITES BY WORKING COLLABORATIVELY WITH CLASSROOM TEACHERS, ARTISTS, SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS IN SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA. THROUGH A RANGE OF PROGRAMS AND SERVICES, PAEP ACHIEVES ITS PRIMARY GOAL OF ADVANCING STUDENT LEARNING BY PROMOTING BEST PRACTICES IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ARTS IN EDUCATION, BUILDING CAPACITY IN THOSE WHO DELIVER THESE PROGRAMS, AND PROVIDING ACCESS TO RESOURCES IN SUPPORT OF ARTS EDUCATION PROGRAMS. APPROXIMATELY 25,000 STUDENTS BENEFITED DIRECTLY FROM PROGRAMS OFFERED BY PAEP IN FISCAL YEAR JUNE 30, 2019 BY PARTICIPATING IN OVER 300 ARTS EXPERIENCES CONDUCTED BY TEACHING ARTISTS. MORE THAN 45,000 STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND PARENTS SHARED IN THIS PROCESS BY ATTENDING, SUPPORTING, AND VOLUNTEERING FOR THE MANY PERFORMANCES AND EXHIBITS THAT WERE HELD TO DEMONSTRATE THE LEARNING THAT OCCURRED. PAEP CONTINUED TO MANAGE THE REGIONAL COMPETITION FOR POETRY OUT LOUD, A PROGRAM OF THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS SUPPORTED IN THE COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA BY THE PENNSYLVANIA COUNCIL ON THE ARTS AND ITS REGIONAL PARTNERS. PARTNERING WITH THE PHILADELPHIA WRITERS PROJECT, PAEP AGAIN MANAGED THE REGIONAL COMPETITION FOR THE NATIONAL SCHOLASTIC YOUNG ARTISTS AND WRITERS PROGRAM. PAEP CONDUCTED AFTER SCHOOL AND SUMMER STEAM (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, ARTS AND MATHEMATICS) PROGRAMS THROUGH THE PA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION IN 14 SCHOOLS GRADES 5-8, ITS SMART READERS PROGRAM, CONTINUED PRE-SCHOOL AND SENIOR ARTS RESIDENCIES, MAINTAINED ARTS RESIDENCIES FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF MILITARY AND VETERANS AFFAIRS AND BEGAN AN ARTS INTEGRATION RESEARCH PROGRAM FOR THE US DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.
