MOUNTAIN VIEW NURSING HOME, INC. ("MVNH"), A TAX-EXEMPT, PENNSYLVANIA NOT- FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION ORGANIZED UNDER SECTION 501(C)(3) OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE, OWNED AND OPERATED A 180-BED LONG-TERM CARE, SKILLED NURSING, AND REHABILITATION FACILITY. MVNH WAS LOCATED IN THE CITY OF SCRANTON APPROXIMATELY FOUR AND A HALF MILES FROM COMMUNITY MEDICAL CENTER DBA GEISINGER-COMMUNITY MEDICAL CENTER (GCMC). MVNH PROVIDED NURSING AND MEDICAL SERVICES TO RESIDENTS AT VARYING LEVELS OF CARE INCLUDING REHABILITATIVE THERAPIES, ASSISTANCE WITH DAILY LIVING ACTIVITIES, AND 24- HOUR SKILLED NURSING CARE. THE REHABILITATIVE THERAPIES THAT MVNH PROVIDED INCLUDED PHYSICAL, RESPIRATORY, OCCUPATIONAL, AND SPEECH. THE THERAPIES WERE DESIGNED TO ASSIST RESIDENTS IN THEIR PURSUIT OF IMPROVED HEALTH AND WELLNESS. FIFTY-EIGHT PERCENT OF MVNH DISCHARGES WERE TO HOME OR OTHER LESS ACUTE SETTINGS. IN ADDITION TO NURSING ASSISTANCE AND SKILLED NURSING, MVNH ALSO HAD A 24-BED UNIT SPECIALIZING IN THE CARE OF INDIVIDUALS WITH ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE. THIS UNIT'S STAFF WAS SPECIALLY TRAINED TO DEAL WITH RESIDENTS WITH DEMENTIA, ESPECIALLY THROUGH BEHAVIORAL MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATION TECHNIQUES. TO ENHANCE THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE, ALL RESIDENTS HAD ACTIVITIES INCORPORATED INTO THEIR DAILY ROUTINE. THERE WERE MANY ACTIVITIES THAT AVAILABLE, SUCH AS EXERCISE PROGRAMS AND PET THERAPY. EACH ACTIVITY WAS SELECTED FOR THE RESIDENTS BASED ON INDIVIDUAL NEEDS AND ABILITIES. IN FY2018, ITS FINAL YEAR OF OPERATION, MVNH PROVIDED THEIR SERVICES TO 334 INDIVIDUALS. MOUNTAIN VIEW NURSING HOME IS IN THE PROCESS OF WINDING DOWN THE LEGAL ENTITY.
