HECP PROVIDES COUNSELING, TESTING INVESTIGATIONS, AND ENFORCEMENT SUPPORT TO VICTIMS OF HOUSING DISCRIMINATION; ASSISTANCE NEGOTIATING REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS AND MODIFICATIONS; AND EDUCATION AND OUTREACH REGARDING RIGHTS UNDER FAIR HOUSING LAWS. HECP PROVIDES EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR SOCIAL SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS, AGENCIES THAT SERVE THE PROTECTED CLASSES, PUBLIC OFFICIALS, MUNICIPALITIES, AND PRIVATE AND NONPROFIT HOUSING PROVIDERS TO PROMOTE COMPLIANCE WITH FAIR HOUSING LAWS AND TO PREVENT DISCRIMINATION, AND PRINT MATERIALS AND OTHER RESOURCES TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC AND HOUSING PROFESSIONALS ABOUT FAIR HOUSING, HECP ALSO CONDUCTS TESTING INVESTIGATIONS OF HOUSING DISCRIMINATION IN RENTAL, SALES, ACCESSIBILTY, HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE, AND MORTGAGE LENDING TRANSACTIONS, BOTH IN RESPONSE TO INDIVIDUAL COMPLAINT ALLEGATIONS AND SYSTEMIC INVESTIGATIONS.DURING 2019, HECP DIRECTLY SERVED 1,672 INDIVIDUALS, INCLUDING 120 VICTIMS OF HOUSING DISCRIMINATION, 48 TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE REQUESTS, AND 190 LANDLORD/TENANT COUNSELING INTAKES AND INFORMATION AND/OR REFERRAL REQUESTS, AND 1,314 INDIVIDUALS TRAINED AT 65 EDUCATION AND OUTREACH EVENTS. DURING 2019, 43,500 EDUCATIONAL GUIDES, FACT SHEETS, OR POSTERS WERE DISTRIBUTED TO CONSUMERS OR AGENCIES BY HECP. IN 2019, HECP CONDUCTED 150 FAIR HOUSING TESTING INVESTIGATIONS AND REFERRED 33 COMPLAINTS TO ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES.
