DEVELOPING VIBRANT RURAL COMMUNITIES: THE CENTER STRENGTHENS THE VITALITY OF RURAL NORTHERN FOREST COMMUNITIES AND THEIR ABILITY TO ATTRACT NEW RESIDENTS AND ENTREPRENEURS SEEKING QUALITY OF LIFE, COMMUNITY, AND CONNECTION TO THE NATURAL WORLD. IN FY2019, THE CENTER:-PROVIDED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND CAPACITY BUILDING TO THE TOWN OF BETHEL, MAINE, TO HELP RESIDENTS CREATE A NEW 978-ACRE COMMUNITY FOREST. THROUGH OUR SUBSIDIARY SUSTAINABLE FOREST FUTURES: -LAUNCHED THE LANCASTER MAIN STREET IMPACT INVESTMENT FUND AND RAISED $550,000 TOWARD A $1.5-MILLION GOAL FOR PURCHASING AND RENOVATING KEY MAIN STREET PROPERTIES IN LANCASTER, NH.-PURCHASED THE HISTORIC PARKER J. NOYES BUILDING IN LANCASTER, NH AND BEGAN RENOVATIONS TO PROVIDE RETAIL SPACE FOR A LOCAL NONPROFIT FOOD MARKET AND 6 QUALITY APARTMENTS. -REACHED A $1-MILLION INVESTMENT GOAL FOR THE MILLINOCKET HOUSING INITIATIVE FUND TO INCREASE QUALITY HOUSING; NEARLY COMPLETED RENOVATION ON A SIXTH RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY IN DOWNTOWN MILLINOCKET.
