Mission

The mission of the Old York Historical Society is to preserve and promote the York Maine region for the education and enjoyment of the public.

About

Historic buildings and grounds - The historic buildings, properties and landscapes that OYHS owns or maintains, together are its single greatest program element that serves the public. From the Steedman Woods Nature Reserve to the national historic landmark Old Gaol, without OYHS the properties would have been developed or demolished long ago. In calendar year 2018, OYHS sold our former administration building on York Street and invested the proceeds into renovating the Perkins House Museum, as well as the collections center in Kittery. Work began on the projects in October.
