About this organization
Mission
CBIA Education Foundation (CBIA EF) helps to develop a skilled workforce in Connecticut. It accomplishes this mission by stimulating career development and exploration, and promoting job training to match employer needs.
About
Funded by a grant from United Technologies, CBIAEF supports the Academy of Engineering and Green Technologies, a National Academy Foundation (NAF) academy at Hartford Public High School. The NAF model includes embedded industry-informed curriculum, a school-based Industry Advisory Board and work-based learning experiences to prepare students for college and careers. Some highlights of this year's work were collegiate and pre-apprenticeship experiences; innovative programs to reach disengaged students through interaction with professionals of similar ethnic backgrounds about post-graduation options; delivery of events that stress the importance of education and development of professional skills; and integrating business volunteers into a student success center to support tutoring, mentoring and work-based learning.
