About

The Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corp ("the Corp") provides BLS level emergency medical services to the City of Hoboken and its residents and visitors. During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020 the Corp answered over 5,900 calls for service including nearly 1,000 calls for service during the State of Emergency declared during the Covid 19 Pandemic. During the State of Emergency, the Corp maintained operations on a 24 by 7 basis with 5 ambulances in service including 2 deployed from FEMA both staffing its own ambulances and providing guides or assistance to the FEMA crews. Whether operating during normal times or during declared "states of emergency", the Corp and its members are trained and prepared for the wide range of emergency services it faces from medical emergencies, accidents and trauma, CPR, seizures, to courtesy transports and community outreach. As the last all volunteer ambulance agency in Hudson County, all Corp operations and Corp administrative functions are performed by over 200 members who volunteer their time and share their talent with the Corp and with the residents of the City. The skills and contributions of the members fill the necessary roles as EMTs, Drivers, Observers and Officers. Keeping the City covered with 1 to 3 ambulances 24 hours a day, 365 days a year requires between 20,000 to 53,000 volunteer hours per year. As the Corp looks forward to celebrating 50 years of service to Hoboken in 2021, the members and officers thank the City and its residents for their continued support and trust.
