GOODWILL RESCUE MISSION (GRM) IS OPEN 365 DAYS A YEAR PROVIDING FOOD, SHELTER AND GUIDANCE TO SOME OF NEWARK'S MOST NEEDY MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN. EACH YEAR GRM PROVIDES CARE FOR OVER 100,000 CHRONICALLY HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS, MANY WITH LIFE CONTROLLING ADDICTIONS. GRM SERVES BETWEEN 250 -300 MEALS A DAY AND HAS 175 BEDS AVAILABLE FOR MEN BETWEEN OUR EMERGENCY SHELTER AND COMPREHENSIVE LIFE TRANSFORMATION PROGRAMS. MEALS AND SHELTER ARE PROVIDED 7 DAYS A WEEK. APPROXIMATELY 43 MEN SLEEP IN OUR EMERGENCY SHELTER EACH NIGHT. OUR LONG-STANDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH A VARIETY OF OTHER COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND AGENCIES UNIQUELY POSITION US TO ENSURE THAT ALL OF A PERSON'S FELT NEEDS ARE ADDRESSED, INCLUDING PHYSICAL, MEDICAL, EMOTIONAL AND SPIRITUAL. WEEKLY, WE DISTRIBUTE 50 TO 60 POUNDS OF ASSORTED BAKED GOODS, FRUITS, AND VEGETABLES TO SENIOR CITIZEN SITES, SENIOR DAYCARE FACILITIES, AND LOCAL CHURCHES WHO CARE FOR THE POOR. FREE CLOTHING IS PROVIDED TO ANYONE IN NEED THREE TIMES PER WEEK. DURING THE MAJOR HOLIDAYS THE MISSION PROVIDES CELEBRATIONS AND SPECIAL MEALS.
