About

Established in the United States in 2007, Music for Autism provides interactive concerts for individuals with autism and their families. Based in New York City, Music for Autism currently presents over 30 free concerts annually in New York, California, Texas, and Maryland, and also works with the performing community to promote increased understanding of and adaptation for the needs of concertgoers on the autistic spectrum. Music for Autism's founder and board member, psychiatrist Dr. Robert Accordino, has developed a research-based methodology to train performers and concert facilitators in best practices of creating a sensory-friendly performance environment appropriate to those on the autism spectrum. Since 2007, we have provided over 160 concerts to more than 12,000 individuals with autism and their families, serving those who would otherwise be excluded from these artistic experiences by virtue of their disability. In 2019 the organization held 30 concerts in 4 cities: Houston, LA, Rockville and NYC.
