SINCE OUR INCEPTION IN 2007, CHILD ADVOCACY HAS BEEN THE HEARTBEAT OF THE WORK OF RESTAVEK FREEDOM FOUNDATION. CURRENTLY, THE ORGANIZATION PARTNERS WITH 59 SCHOOLS IN PORT-AU-PRINCE AND LES CAYES TO PROVIDE TUITION, BOOKS, SHOES AND UNIFORMS FOR MORE THAN 1,062 CHILDREN. 15 CHILD CASE WORKERS MANAGE AN AVERAGE PORTFOLIO OF 60 CHILDREN PROVIDING ENCOURAGEMENT AND ONGOING SUPPORT THROUGH A TRUSTING RELATIONSHIP FOR THE CHILDREN IN THEIR PORTFOLIO THROUGH CONSISTENT VISITS AND MONITORING. EACH CASE WORKER OVERSEES SCHOOL PROGRESS, HEALTH AND PSYCHOSOCIAL DEVELOPMENT OF EACH CHILD. THE ORGANIZATION MAINTAINS AN EXTENSIVE DATABASE, BASED ON CASE FILES, THAT INCLUDES BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND DEMOGRAPHIC DATA ON EACH CHILD, ASSESSMENTS ON THEIR HOUSING, MEDICAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS AND EDUCATIONAL NEEDS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO RETAINS ANY IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS AS THEY RELATE TO EACH CHILD SUCH AS THEIR BIRTH CERTIFICATES AND REPORT CARDS. RESTAVEK FREEDOM WORKS TO REUNITE CHILDREN WITH THEIR BIOLOGICAL FAMILIES WHEN POSSIBLE, WHILE CONTINUING TO PAY FOR SCHOOLING WHERE IT IS AVAILABLE. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO OPERATES A TRANSITIONAL HOME WHERE GIRLS WHO WERE LIVING IN ABUSIVE SITUATIONS HAVE A CHANCE TO RECOVER FROM THE TRAUMATIC EVENTS IN THEIR LIVES. 15 GIRLS LIVED IN THIS HOME DURING 2018, RECEIVING EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT, MEDICAL CARE, PSYCHOSOCIAL THERAPY, LOVE AND SUPPORT.
