A SECOND JBJ SOUL KITCHEN OPENED IN MAY 2016 IN TOMS RIVER, NEW JERSEY, AS PART OF THE B.E.A.T. CENTER, A UNIQUE, COLLABORATIVE EFFORT WITH OTHER NONPROFITS. THE COMMUNITY KITCHENS HAVE SERVED OVER 95,000 NUTRITIOUS, DELICIOUS MEALS SINCE THEIR INCEPTION AND MOST RECENTLY REACHED THE GOAL OF SERVING 52% IN-NEED DINNERS AND 48% PAYING DINERS. PAYING DINERS CAN AFFECT CHANGE BY PAYING MORE THAN THE SUGGESTED MINIMUM DONATION BY "PAYING IT FORWARD". FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNABLE TO MAKE A DONATION FOR THEIR MEAL, THEY ARE INVITED TO COME IN, ENJOY A MEAL AND LEARN HOW THEY CAN BE PART OF THE JBJ SOUL KITCHEN COMMUNITY BY VOLUNTEERING. THROUGH VOLUNTEERING, THEY WORK WITH THE SOUL KITCHEN OUTREACH WHO CONNECTS ELIGIBLE VOLUNTEERS TO THE EMPLOYMENT AND EMPOWERMENT TEAM (EET) PROGRAM.
