REPURPOSING RESEARCH:ITS MAIN AREA OF FOCUS, THE ORGANIZATION CATALYZES REPURPOSING RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES BY FACILITATING RESEARCH FUNDING AMONG REPURPOSING STAKEHOLDERS, AND SOLICITING AND VETTING REPURPOSING RESEARCH. IN FY2019, 10 NEW REPURPOSING PROJECTS WERE SIGNED (IN RARE DISEASES, ONCOLOGY, NEUROLOGICAL AND OTHER DISEASES), WHILE 6 PROJECTS WERE COMPLETED (IN NEUROLOGICAL, RARE AND OTHER DISEASES), AND 12 PROJECTS STILL IN PROGRESS - FOR A TOTAL OF 22 ONGOING PROJECTS AS OF 7/31/2019.REGROW PILOT:DURING FY2019, THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUED WORK WITH MANY EXTERNAL VOLUNTEER STAKEHOLDERS TO DEVELOP AND PLAN THE REGROW PILOT PROGRAM. THE PILOT WILL PROVIDE REPURPOSING RESEARCH GRANTS TO CLINICIANS AND RESEARCHERS IN THE DEVELOPING WORLD (DEFINED AS LOW AND LOW-MIDDLE INCOME COUNTRIES PER THE WORLD BANK) TO BUILD CAPACITY FOR RESEARCH FROM WITHIN THE DEVELOPING WORLD AND FIND TREATMENTS FOR THE DEVELOPING WORLD. IN MAY 2019, A CUREACCELERATOR LIVE! FOR THE DEVELOPING WORLD EVENT WAS HELD IN BOSTON. THE ORGANIZATION EXPECTS TO LAUNCH THE FUNDING OPPORTUNITY RFP FOR REGROW IN LATE CY2019.CUREACCELERATOR LIVE!:CUREACCELERATOR LIVE! IS THE ORGANIZATION'S UNIQUE PHILANTHROPIC PITCH EVENT THAT BRINGS TOGETHER STAKEHOLDERS FROM PHARMA, BIOTECH, ACADEMIA, MEDICINE, PHILANTHROPY AND PATIENT GROUPS TO SHOWCASE REPURPOSING PROJECTS IN NEED OF FUNDING. CLINICAL RESEARCHERS ARE SELECTED AS FINALISTS THROUGH AN EXTERNALLY VETTED PROCESS AFTER PROPOSAL SUBMISSIONS. FINALISTS PITCH THEIR CLINICAL REPURPOSING TRIALS AT THE EVENT AND ATTENDEES VOTE FOR THE WINNING REPURPOSING CLINICAL TRIAL. THE WINNING PROJECT IS ANNOUNCED AT THE EVENT ALONG WITH A GRANT COMMITMENT FROM THE ORGANIZATION. IN FY2019, THE ORGANIZATION HELD THREE CUREACCELERATOR LIVE! PITCH EVENTS: ON THE MID-ATLANTIC OUTSIDE OF WASHINGTON DC IN OCTOBER; ON THE DEVELOPING WORLD IN BOSTON IN MAY; AND ON RARE DISEASES IN PHILADELPHIA IN JUNE
