FOUNDATION FOR RECOVERY'S PEER RECOVERY COACH TRAINING PROGRAM TRAINS AN AVERAGE OF 40 - 50 PEER SUPPORT SPECIALISTS (PRSS) ANNUALLY WHO VOLUNTEER TO MENTOR THOSE NEW TO RECOVERY. FFR OFFERS PEER SUPPORT SERVICES TO APPROXIMATELY 2,000 INDIVIDUALS ANNUALLY. THE PEER RECOVERY SUPPORT SPECIALIST TRAINING IS A 46-HOUR INTENSE CURRICULUM THAT PROVIDES THE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE NEEDED TO PROVIDE RECOVERY SUPPORT SERVICES FOR ADDICTION, MENTAL HEALTLH AND CO-OCCURING RECOVERY. THE TRAINING IS OFFERED TO MEMBERS OF THE RECOVERY COMMUNITY, WHO HAVE TWO YEARS SUSTAINED RECOVERY FROM ADDICTION, AND/OR IDENTIFY WITH MENTAL HEALTH RECOVERY LIVED EXPERIENCE, AND WHO WANT TO SERVE AS MENTORS FOR OTHERS WHO ARE NEW IN OR MAINTAINING THEIR RECOVERY. THE TRAINING CONSISTS OF PEER COACHING TECHNIQUES, STAGES OF RECOVERY, ETHICS, UNDERSTANDING A SELF-DIRECTED LIFE AND ACCESSING COMMUNITY RESOURCES. THE PEER RECOVERY COMMUNITY CENTER HOUSES A COMPREHENSIVE INFORMATION CLEARINGHOUSE OF CURRENT INFORMATION ON PREVENTION, TREATMENT, RESEARCH AND RELATED ISSUES. FFR OFFERS A VARIETY OF EDUCATIONAL AND OTHER INFORMATIONAL MATERIALS AND PUBLICATIONS FROM VARIOUS ENTITIES AND PARTNERS, INCLUDING THE SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES ADMINISTRATION (SAMHSA), THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION (DOE), AND MANY NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS SUPPORTING ADDICTION AND/OR MENTAL HEALTH RECOVERY. THE PEER CENTER ALSO OFFERS A COMPUTER LAB AND OTHER SUPPORT SERVICES TO HELP INDIVIDUALS NAVIGATE THEIR RECOVERY JOURNEY.
