  • Field trips program used to augment classroom lesson plans in this fiscal year the 4th grade focus was on california history and so field trips included trips to local historical sites incl erhman mansion and the tahoe museum the 3rd grade class had a field trip to the fair grounds to experience field days and the study of animals the 5th grade trip to yosemite aligned with the study of the natural environment in which we live the forces of nature that surround us and science based learning in the ltesms school overall Expenses 0.
  • Academic enhancement program several elements to this program are supported by the pta there are several fundraising efforts such as the walkathon that provide funding to this program to mention some the scholastictime magazine for kids is a long running program where each teacher orders developmental materials that each student can read and keep these magazines supply fun facts and interesting academic learning enhancing activities for the students the art program known as bats bringing art to school is the only art program the students experience as art has not been allocated any funding in the school budget volunteer parents teach the students preplanned lessosn with art supplies purchased and organized by the pta bats coordinator Expenses 0.
  • Major purchases program building of greenhouse continued in fy19 water was connected to greenhouse to enable easier watering of plants crushed rock was added for drainage outdoor plant tubs were installed for pollinator gardens so ltesms students could study plant growth and symbiotic relationship between insects and plants providing a direct and consistent approach to current academic program on site at ltesms versus relying on field trips the ltesms campus is in high snowfall location limiting outdoor growing opportunties and academia related thereto hence the purchase of a greenhouse the master gardners of south lake tahoe have been instrumental in creating class plans and subject matter for the students to study alongside the greenhouse prjc Expenses 0.
