Mission

To create and distribute research tools which stimulate the development of drugs to improve the cognitive deficits in schizophrenia.

About

In 2018, MATRICS Assessment Inc's (MAI) primary activities involved distribution of the MATRICS Consensus Cognitive Battery (MCCB) and the Brief International Functional Capacity Assessment (BIFCA), continuing translation efforts, and overseeing the collection of normative data in foreign countries using translated versions of the MCCB and BIFCA. For distribution, the two test distributors with whom MAI has established licensing and distribution agreements were both involved in distribution of the MCCB and one was involved in the distribution of the BIFCA. To facilitate distribution, MAI's efforts involved making sure that orders were received, processed, and the MCCB test kits and retest packets delivered to our test distributors in a timely fashion. We also worked in concert with our primary vendor (LSC Communications) which was involved in printing, warehousing, and shipping the MCCB to test distributors to ensure quality control. We have also been active in assisting academics in translating the MCCB for research purposes in twelve other countries. For the commercial translations Comms Multilingual continued their role in coordinating the forward and backward translations and providing quality control assurances. Future efforts will be to explore possibilities for additional translations in other languages in which clinical trials are being conducted or for which plans are being made. We have also been involved in the conduct and data analysis for studies which have collected normative data for translated versions of the MCCB to facilitate interpretation of the test results in those countries. To date, normative studies have been completed in Japan, Russia, India (Hindi), Spain, Central and South America, China, and Germany. Data Collection is going in Brazil and Italy. We were also active this past year in writing a new version of one of the scoring programs. And, we are currently working on a downloadable version of the scoring programs that can be used on laptops or tablets. Collectively, these efforts enable MAI to fulfill its primary exempt purpose by providing a pathway by which clinical trial research can continue efforts aimed at testing the efficiency of new compounds to treat the cognitive deficits associated with schizophrenia.
