THE TRUSTEES MAINTAINED THE OPERATION OF THE INTERIM 28-SEAT LIVE PERFORMANCE AND MOVIE VENUE, THE RIVER STREET THEATRE DURING THE FIRST HALF OF THE FISCAL YEAR. IN JANUARY 2019, THE SPACE WAS ASSIGNED TO THE PROJECT'S CONTRACTOR, HUTTER CONSTRUCTION CORPORATION FOR ITS ONSITE FIELD OFFICE. THE RIVER STREET OPERATIONS DURING THE FIRST HALF OF THE FISCAL YEAR CONTINUED WITH ITS WIDE VARIETY OF ENTERTAINMENT INCLUDING INDEPENDENT, DOCUMENTARY, FOREIGN AND CHILDREN'S FILMS IN ADDITION TO THE STAGE2SCREEN SERIES OF THEATRICAL PRODUCTIONS FROM THE ROYAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY, THE ROYAL BALLET & OPERA HOUSE THAT INCLUDED OKLAHOMA, RICHARD RODGERS GALA AND THE KING AND I. THE UNIQUE PROGRAMMING CONTINUED TO PULL AUDIENCES FROM AS FAR AWAY AS BOSTON. LIVE PERFORMANCES AT THE RIVER STREET THEATRE INCLUDED A PLAY READING, SEVERAL LIVE CLASSICAL CONCERTS AND A MONTHLY COMEDY STAND-UP SERIES, MONAD KNOCK-KNOCK. FOR THE THIRD YEAR IN A ROW, THE RIVER STREET THEATRE HOSTED FREE NON-STOP CARTOONS FOR CHILDREN (AND ADULTS) TO ENJOY DURING THE TOWN'S RIVERFEST WEEKEND CELEBRATIONS. THE RIVER STREET THEATRE WAS ALSO A PROGRAM VENUE FOR THE TOWN'S CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION OF WILLA CATHER, WITH THE SHOWING OF TWO DOCUMENTARIES ON THE LIFE OF JAFFREY AUTHOR. THE THEATRE CONTINUED ITS SALUTE TO VETERANS FOR THE 13TH YEAR WITH A FREE SCREENING OF THE CLASSIC WWII FILM, MRS. MINIVER ON VETERANS' DAY. IN MARCH 2019, THE PARK THEATRE ASSISTED WITH THE PLANNING AND MARKETING OF THE TOWN'S SECOND ANNUAL ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE. TRUSTEES REPRESENTED THE THEATRE AND MARCHED IN THE PARADE WITH OVER TWO DOZEN OTHER PARTICIPANTS, BANDS, DANCERS AND FLOATS. THERE WERE AN ESTIMATED 1,200 INDIVIDUALS AND FAMI-LIES LINING MAIN STREET TO WATCH. THE PROGRAMMING AND PARTNERSHIPS THAT THE PARK THEATRE HAS OFFERED SINCE 2007 CONTINUED TO ATTRACT VISITORS INTO DOWNTOWN JAFFREY AND ITS BUSINESSES. DURING FY19, THE THEATRE PRESENTED 54 DIFFERENT PROGRAMS AT THE RIVER STREET THEATRE AND OTHER VENUES ATTRACTING 1,418 INDIVIDUALS, INCLUDING OVER 500 STU-DENTS AND YOUNG PEOPLE. AS WELL, THE THEATRE CONTINUED TO REACH OUT TO COM-MUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE REGION WITH 22 SEPARATE PRESENTATIONS ABOUT THE PRO-JECT AND ITS PLANS TO INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS IN 8 NEIGHBORING TOWNS. THESE PRESENTATIONS WERE ATTENDED BY 424 COMMUNITY LEADERS. DURING FY19, MORE THAN 1,800 INDIVIDUALS ATTENDED PROGRAMS AND EVENTS PRESENTED BY THE PARK THEATRE. SINCE 2007, OVER 18,016 PATRONS HAVE BEEN ATTRACTED INTO DOWNTOWN JAFFREY BY THE PROGRAMS PRESENTED BY THE PARK THEATRE. THE MOST RECENT STUDY OF THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF THOSE PATRONS BY AMERICANS FOR THE ARTS ESTIMATES THAT, PATRONS COMING INTO DOWNTOWN TO ATTEND THE PARK THEATRE PROGRAMS, HAVE GENERATED MORE THAN 400,000 IN COMMERCE FOR LOCAL MERCHANTS. IN LATE FALL, USDA-RURAL DEVELOPMENT DETERMINED THAT THE PARK THEATRE HAD SUFFICIENT FUNDS TO BEGIN CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW FACILITY. CONSTRUCTION BEGAN ON DECEMBER 31, 2018 AND HAS PROCEEDED THROUGH THE END OF THE FISCAL YEAR. TRUSTEES EXPECT THAT THE THEATRE WILL OPEN IN THE SPRING 2020. CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW FACILITY HAS SUSTAINED OR CREATED IN EXCESS OF 126 JOBS DURING THE PAST SIX MONTHS. RIVER STREET THEATRE OPERATIONS CREATED 5 PART-TIME POSITIONS AND ONE FULL TIME POSITION. OVERALL, BETWEEN OPERATIONS, PROGRAMMING AND CON-STRUCTION, THE PARK THEATER CREATED OR SUSTAINED 132 JOBS DURING FY19. THE VISION FOR THE PARK THEATRE IS THAT IT WILL BE "A REGIONAL CENTER FOR THE ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT, A MEETING PLACE FOR THE COMMUNITY AND A DYNAMIC FORCE IN THE REGION'S ECONOMIC VITALITY AND QUALITY OF LIFE."
