Mission
Centro de los Derechos del Migrante, Inc. supports Mexico-based migrant workers to defend and protect their rights as they move between their home communities in Mexico and their workplaces in the United States. With our binational, multilingual staff and geographic reach we have grown in response to increasing needs for its advocacy and services and seek to overcome the border as a barrier to justice.

CDM’s Migrant Women’s Project (ProMuMi) empowers migrant women to combat abuse and discrimination. Through ProMuMi, migrant women have successfully advocated for protections that have significantly improved recruitment and working conditions for migrant women, particularly for women working in the Maryland crab industry under H-2B visas. Since its launch, over 1.2 million workers have used Contratados.org—CDM’s award-winning, crowdsourced ‘Yelp for migrant workers’—to denounce exploitation, know their rights and access relevant news.
