Mission

Heading Home's vision is that experiences of homelessness are rare, short-lived and non-recurring. The mission is to accomplish that vision through advocacy, prevention and service.

About

Heading Home continued a three-county program, in partnership with CYFD, CLNKids, Valencia County Shelters, Mesilla Valley of Hope and the City of Albuquerque, to house families and reduce instances of child abuse and neglect. Also, Heading Home continued to operate as the backbone agency for Albuquerque Heading Home, a multi-agency partnership in Albuquerque that houses the most medically vulnerable people who have experienced chronic homelessness. To-date, the initiative has housed 842 people. In addition, Heading Home continues to provide overnight medical shelter, 24-hour respite care, veteran transitional housing and during fiscal year 2018 began operating the Westside Emergency Housing Center, formerly known as the 'Winter Shelter,' funded by the City of Albuquerque.
