TO EDUCATE AND PROMOTE AWARENESSS TO THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY REGARDING BREAST CANCER. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES PROGRAMS OF SUPPORT, BREAST HEALTH EDUCATION,ADVOCACY TRAINING, RESOURCES AND RESEARCH.

ANNUAL HEALTH SUMMIT/BRUNCH - OVER 300 PARTICIPANTS WERE EDUCATED THROUGH INFORMATION PRESENTED BY THE SPEAKER ALONG WITH BREAST HEALTH LITERATURE AND FREE SCREENING POST CARDS & FLYERS. SISTER2SISTER PARTNERED WITH THE RWJ COMMUNITY HEALTH EDUCATION AND PROVIDED FREE SCREENING TO 124 PARTICIPANTS. FOLLOW UP IS GIVEN TO ALL PARTICPANTS THAT NEED ADDITIONAL BREAST HEALTH INFORMATION AND/OR SHOW SIGNS OF HEALTH PROBLEMS. SPECIAL PROVISIONS WERE MADE FOR UNINSURED AND UNDERSERVED WOMEN. FOLLOW UP POST CARDS AND TELEPHONE CALLS WERE CONTINUED FOR FOUR MONTHS AFTER EVENT. THE GIFT FOR LIFE BLOCK WALK AND 5K BREAST CANCER "RUN/WALK 4LIFE WAS COMBINED. EIGHT HUNDRED PARTICIPANTS REGISTERED FOR THE 5K WALK. THE 5K RACE/WALK IS AN ANNUAL EVENT HELD EACH YEAR. THE FUNDS RAISED HELP TO BRING OUTREACH AND EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS TO THOUSANDS OF FAMILIES IN CENTRAL NEW JERSEY. IN ADDITION TO SUPPORTING MANY COMMUNITY BREAST HEALTH PROGRAMS, FUNDS RAISED FOM THIS EVENT SUPPORT THE ORGANIZATION'S BREAST CANCER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, WHICH PROVIES EMERGENCY BREAST CANCER RELATED SERVICES FOR QUALIFIED WOMEN DURING TREATMENT. PROVIDED OVER 10,000 IN SUPPORT INCLUDING PROSTHETIC ITEMS, MEALS,TRANSPORTATION TRIPS FOR CHEMO TREATMENTS, RENT, UTILITY SUPPORT AND OTHER EMERGENCY SERVICES. THE SILVER FOXES MAMMOGRAPHY PROGRAM TARGETS SENIOR MEN AND WOMEN AGE 55 AND OLDER. FIFTY AFRICAN AMERICAN SENIORS (OVER 65) WERE EDUCATED AT THE SILVER FOX WORKSHOP. FOLLOW UP PHONE CALLS AND VISITS ENCOURAGED 15 SENIORS TO GET THEIR MAMMOGRAMS. CORPORATE BREAST HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMS (LUNCH AND LEARN) ARE PRESENTED DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER(NATIONAL BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH.) AS MANY AS 15 BREAST CANCER AWARENESS PRESENTATIONS DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER ARE CONDUCTED AT CORPORATIONS AND CHURCHES AS REQUESTED. WOMEN EMPOWERING WOMEN PROGRAM. THIS EVENT IS DESIGNED FOR WOMEN LEADERS IN THE COMMUNITY. SNCNJ PARTNERS WITH 40 WOMEN IN THE COMMUNITY FOR A ONE DAY PROGRAM THAT EDUCATES AND EMPOWERS WOEMN TO TAKE THE MISSION OF SNCNJ TO THEIR HOMES. IT ALSO HONORS ONE OUTSTANDING WOMAN.
