About this organization
Mission
Working on issues related to environmental stewardship in the areas of education and greening.
About
Read Green: is focused on getting our green Earth award-winning books into the hands of youth, and connecting our award winning authors to young people. A major component of Read Green is our green Earth book award. The Nature Generation created the green Earth book award to promote books that inspire children to grow a deeper appreciation, respect, and responsibility for their natural environment. Our GEBA program is the United States' first environmental stewardship book award program. This is an annual award for authors who write books that best raise awareness of the beauty of our natural world and the responsibility that we have to protect it. In 2018, approximately 100 books were submitted by publishers and authors for consideration. The annual award ceremony is held each year at our Read Green festival. Additionally, The Nature Generation brought authors into area schools and donated hundreds of books to Title I schools. Another major component is our Growing Green Readers program where we work to encourage children and young adults to read environmental books. The major effort in 2018 was to support read-a-thons and other book donation efforts in schools.
