About

KPAA coordinates the 'Keiki to Career' initiative, a collaborative work of community partners that ensures Kaua`i's young people are 'ready to learn & ready for life'. The Kekaha Elementary Early Literacy Project includes placing reading mentors bi-weekly in every classroom, hosting 3 free family book events, stocking the school library with culturally meaningful books & providing prizes in every classroom as reading incentives. Kekaha Elementary reading scores increased in 2018 from 32% to 38%. KPAA researches Kaua`i data to measure the progression of island youth and to adjust Keiki to Career strategies for the greatest impact. (Continued on line 4B below)
