Mission

New Harvest is laying the groundwork for the future of agriculture by reimagining the way we make animal products—using cells instead of animals (aka cellular agriculture). Founded in 2004, we are the world’s longest-running 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing cultured meat research. Our mission is to maximize the positive impact of cellular agriculture, ensuring this emerging technology delivers on its promises to create a more equitable and sustainable food system by ending our dependence on animal agriculture. We fund public research and industry-wide initiatives to accelerate scientific breakthroughs and address shared challenges that transcend private interests.

About

Advancing scientific research. New Harvest worked directly with researchers and encouraged them to pursue scientific research in areas that would advance knowledge and technology so that animal products (meat, eggs, milk, etc.) can be produced without using animals. New Harvest advised researchers how to obtain funding and other support for their research and was able to match researchers with funding sources and other support necessary for their research. New Harvest worked with researchers developing milk, egg whites, gelatin, meat, rhino horn, and elephant ivory - all without the use of animals. Additionally, New Harvest provided direct funding to researchers working in this field.
