COLLEGE ACCESS (CA) - THE GOAL OF THE COLLEGE ACCESS PROGRAM IS TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS GRADUATING FROM BUCHTEL & EAST COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTERS, ATTENDING COLLEGE AND SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING COLLEGE. (THE WORD COLLEGE IS USED TO INCLUDE ANY POST-SECONDARY ACCREDITED PROGRAM). COLLEGE ACCESS SERVICES BEGIN IN MIDDLE SCHOOL AND CONTINUE THROUGH COLLEGE, ALTHOUGH THE MAJORITY OF DIRECT SERVICES ARE PROVIDED AT THE HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL. WE PROVIDE PROGRAMMING AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL FOCUSED ON COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS THROUGH KIDS2COLLEGE AND JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT FINANCIAL LITERACY AND CAREER PROGRAMS. SPECIFIC PROGRAMMING AT THE HIGH SCHOOL IN OUR RESOURCE ROOM INCLUDES: COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTRAL, A SEMESTER LONG INTENSIVE COURSE FOCUSED ON COLLEGE APPLICATIONS, SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS, FINANCIAL AID FOR COLLEGE, AND FINANCIAL LITERACY; SMALL GROUP WORK ADDRESSING SOCIAL COMPETENCIES, CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO GUIDE AND ASSIST STUDENTS TO MEET THE CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS AND RECEIVE THE $4000 PROJECT GRAD SCHOLARSHIP OR OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS, AMERICAN COLLEGE TESTING (ACT) PREP WORKSHOPS, SUMMER AND SCHOOL YEAR INSTITUTES, MATH TUTORING, MENTORING SERVICES, SERVICE LEARNING AND COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES, LEADERSHIP SKILLS DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES, COLLEGE AND CAREER EXPLORATION, AND COLLEGE SUCCESS SERVICES FOR OUR SCHOLARS IN COLLEGE.
