State Theatre New Jersey exists to enrich the lives of people from diverse backgrounds in New Jersey and to contribute to a vital urban environment by presenting the finest national and international performing artists, providing arts education to inform and build future audiences, and providing a major performing arts venue in central New Jersey that encourages and enables members of the community to have a lifelong association with the performing arts.

Mainstage Programming State Theatre New Jersey's mainstage programming features high-caliber performing artists across a variety of genres, including an increasing number of blockbuster acts. The theatre consistently brings in top-tier artists from around the world, serving more than 200,000 people from throughout the state annually. Pillars of its programming include the Broadway Series, which features national tours of hit Broadway musicals; the Orchestra Series, which features renowned international orchestras in a hall noted for its acoustical excellence; and the Family Series, which features a host of family-friendly entertainment for children of all ages.
